Our five-strong para-cycling team have arrived in Los Angeles, California and are ready for World Championships track action, writes Mark Etheridge.

The team are taking part in the UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships in the United States, an event which starts on Thursday and continues through to Sunday.

Made up of four men and one woman the team is the same that took part in the UCI P1 track event in Invercargill, New Zealand barring Juan Wilken who doesn’t make the trip on this occasion.

“We arrived here in LA early on Monday morning and had our first session on the track the next day,” said team manager Ben Capostagno. “The team looks good and seem to have shaken off the cobwebs from the long flight over here.

“I think our best chances for medals are Roxy Burns and Jaco Nel, based on their performances in New Zealand last year. However, the team look in good form and we are expecting personal bests from the other members of the team.”

The full line-up for Los Angeles is:
Janos Plekker (C4), Stephan Herholdt (C4), Jaco Nel (C2), Dane Wilson (C5), Roxy Burns (C4)
Manager: Ben Capostagno, Coach: Elrick Kulsen, Physiotherapist: Sandy Todd
